Homemade Brownie Recipe
I have tried several homemade brownie recipes, and while I am not usually too disappointed in chocolate baked goods, there was always something just not quite right. And then my sister in law introduced me to her brownies and suddenly all was right in the world!
If you’re a lover of soft, fluffy, chewy, fudge chocolate brownies, this one is for you! This easy homemade brownie recipe will forever change the way you make brownies from scratch.
How To Make Brownies From Scratch
Making brownies from scratch is almost as easy as buying a brownie mix from the store, but there is just no comparison to the delicious taste and texture of a homemade brownie. The ingredients used in this easy brownie recipe are all ones I keep on-hand – nothing strange and nothing too perishable.
Baking Prep – Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Then grease the inside of an 8×8 baking pan with cooking spray.
Mix The Wet Ingredients – The brownie batter comes together by mixing the simple ingredients together. In a large saucepan, melt half of a cup of butter. Remove the butter from the heat and then stir in the eggs, sugar and vanilla.
Add Dry Ingredients – Next, you’ll add the dry ingredients by beating in the baking powder, cocoa flour and salt. Then you’ll gently folding in some chocolate chips and then spread the batter into your baking pan.
Cook – Put your brownies into the preheated oven, and then bake for 25-30 minutes. Keep an eye on them so they don’t overcook. When they’re done, you’ll be ready to indulge on the best chocolate brownies ever!
Brownie Frosting – Some people love putting frosting on top of their brownies, but I don’t think these brownies need it. I never put frosting on this brownie recipe but if you love frosting then go for it! I’m sure it’ll be delicious.
Tools Used To Make These Homemade Brownies

I’m a grandpa who likes to have fun with all family members. I wanted brownies like my mother used to make! This recipe is it!! I added chopped walnuts and now I’m in heaven. I make them early so I can sneak a few before anyone else shows up, because they love ’em! Everyone loves them, and I believe making from scratch beats the box mix anyday/anytime. God blessed me abundantly, my wife always makes everything from scratch. Thanks for posting this perfect recipe!!!

I prefer them fresh but you can freeze them.
This has been my “go to” brownie mix for 2 years now. I have it memorized which is a little dangerous since I can make these, clean up, and bake them in under 45 min. Thanks for a great and reliable recipe!
Thanks Lauren…you absolutely made my day! I’m so glad you love these brownies as much as I do!!
Wow, this brownie recipe is exceptional! Best I’ve ever had! Used Kerry Gold butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

I’ve been making this brownie recipe for a few years and it always comes out great! My husband always asks me to make these for him and they never last long. I think it comes out the best with milk chocolate chips vs semi-sweet. This recipe is so easy I haven’t used a box mix in 3 years. I always make sure to keep all these ingredients on hand.
Thanks Beth Anne, you made my day! I’m so glad you love these as much as I do!

You bet! I’m so glad you enjoyed them.
Wait a minute. The first time I made this recipe it came out with the perfect flaky tops. The second and third time the tops are not flaky. Still delicious, but does anyone know where my flakes went?
Turned out so fudgy!

It’s Friday night and we wanted something sweet after dinner, while watching a family movie. I found this recipe after a quick Pinterest search. They turned out great! The batter didn’t look like much so I made my pan smaller with foil. I also didn’t have any chocolate, so I added some Butterfingers crumbles instead. They turned out great! I whipped them up in no time and they were ready to go not long after the movie began.
Oh good, I’m so glad you loved the brownies. Sounds like you guys had a great movie night, thanks for sharing!
3 kids home for half hour…..no brownies left. I would say this was a huge success!!! So yummy. Btw, do people really only use 1 cup of choc. Chips after opening a fresh bag? Just go for it, use them all. Great recipe. Thanks!
I’m so glad these brownies were such a big hit! LOL, I cannot confirm, nor deny, that the remaining chocolate chips make it to the end of the day.:)
The BEST brownie recipe ever!! I add my own little extras and Ghirardelli’s cocoa/chocolate chips. Everyone loves them.
Yay! I’m so glad you love them! Thanks Marianne!
It doesn’t say at what temp to bake the brownies?
Found it! Sorry #mombrain
Glad you found it! 🙂 Mom Brain is a real thing around here too! 😉
Your post had me at the “laughter is the best medicine is a lie” I had to laugh. I think any rational person would agree that brownies make everything better. The recipe seems easy enough, I think I will try this with the kids. Thank you!
Thanks Lorena! Let me know how you like it!! 🙂
They look delicious but plugging the ingredients into myfitness pal it figured about 280 cal per brownie at 9 servings as recipe suggests. Still going to make but probably will adjust the fat content.
You’re right! I just double checked the ingredients that that is what My Fitness Pal gave me too! I am going to adjust the recipe card! 🙂
You’re right Megan! I’ve made these twice now and they are seriously the BEST!!!!!!! Thanks for the delicious homemade brownie recipe!
We love this recipe!! My 11 yr old always makes them. Everyone raves about how good they are. She makes 4x the recipe for a 10×17 cookie sheet. She discovered if she only puts in half the eggs she gets the nice crusty top just like the boxed mix. Thank you for the recipe! Its definitely a keeper!!
Thanks Mim, I’m so glad you guys love these brownies as much as I do! I definitely love that crispy top too!
